Dentists
The Dental Practice Act 2001 requires that all practising dentists in
New South Wales be registered.
Registration Requirements for Graduates as Prescribed in Schedule 2 of
the Dental Practice Act 2001:
- Fully completed application form
- One passport size photograph signed by the applicant and certified
on the back by a referee or Justice of the Peace that the photograph is
a true likeness of the applicant
- A certified copy of the degree
- Three references attesting to your personal character from
professional people (on letterhead) and not from family members, and
dated within the last three months, who has known the applicant for at
least twelve months
- Proof of identity (either driver’s licence, birth certificate, or
passport)
- If registered in another country, an original letter of Good
Standing from that Dental Board dated within the last 3 months
- Documentary proof of Professional Indemnity Insurance or a statutory
declaration supporting an exemption from that requirement. More

- The current application fee is $130 and $40 for provisional
registration
- The application must go to a Board meeting for consideration and
approval

Registration Requirements under Mutual Recognition:
Persons currently registered as a dentist in another Australian State
or Territory or New Zealand may apply under mutual recognition for
registration in New South Wales. Mutual Recognition applicants are
automatically entitled to be granted “Deemed” registration upon lodgement
of the following:
- A fully completed application form
- A certified copy of current annual practising certificate
- Documentary proof of Professional Indemnity Insurance or a statutory
declaration supporting an exemption from that requirement. More
